A pedestrian was struck after authorities say they “failed to use a crosswalk” early Thursday morning in Ames. The Iowa State Patrol says the incident occurred around 4:15 a.m. in the 400 block of Duff Avenue.

Ames is getting its first digital billboard, a project that allows a long-awaited Lincoln Way development to proceed. The 672-square-foot billboard will be built at 731 Billy Sunday Road, parallel to Highway 30. The structure will be 50 feet tall along the frontage road leading into the Hunziker Youth Sports Complex, south of the highway.

The Iowa State Patrol is investigating the incident.
