Buffalo Bills linebacker Matt Milano received similar praise and criticism in ESPN's annual offseason poll once again in 2025. Each offseason, ESPN polls NFL coaches and front office executives and players are ranked position-by-position. The top-10 off-ball linebacker poll did not include Milano this time.
The Buffalo Bills offensive line, specifically the interior area, did not receive any praise in an ESPN poll. ESPN conducted a survey via coaches and executives around the NFL going position-by-position and ranking the best players at each spot. When it came to the interior of the O-line, the Bills did not earn any praise.
One of the biggest question marks for the second year in a row is at safety. Micah Hyde and Jordan Poyer had that area on lockdown from 2017 through 2023, but both were gone last season so the Bills re-signed veteran Taylor Rapp and chose Cole Bishop in the second round of the 2024 draft.
For the Bills, the mark handed over was a B-plus. Overall, ESPN gave only four teams a grade of A. Those were the Denver Broncos, Arizona Cardinals, San Francisco 49ers and Los Angeles Rams. The second-highest grouping was the B-plus Buffalo received.
Miller signed with the Bills in 2022, starting strong but suffering a year-ending torn ACL in November. He returned early in the 2023 season but struggled to regain his speed and athleticism, registering no sacks and just two total tackles in 12 games.
ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter reported on Monday that San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Jauan Jennings wants to either receive a new contract extension or get traded. If he is placed on the trade block, Buffalo could be a legitimate landing spot.
Overall on ESPN's rankings, the New England Patriots still ended up behind the Bills at No. 30 overall in terms of AFC East teams... but the New York Jets only are at the No. 26 position, one spot ahead of Buffalo. The Miami Dolphins lead the division at 10th.
The Buffalo Bills could have an opening to land Terry McLaurin as his contract talks with the Washington Commanders unravel.
The Bills didn’t make headlines, but ESPN still gave them a surprising grade for an offseason built on smart extensions and calculated risks.
If the Buffalo Bills are looking for more wide receiver help, they may want to give the San Francisco 49ers a call.
