Sara was forecast to drop 10 to 20 inches of rain, with up to 30 inches in isolated areas in northern Honduras. In a 7 a.m. Eastern update, the hurricane center said "heavy rain, life-threatening flash flooding and mudslides" were possible through the weekend in Central America.

The National Hurricane Center (NHC) expects “life-threatening, potentially catastrophic flash flooding and mudslides” across northern Honduras as Sara wrings out copious amounts of tropical rainfall over the region.

Tropical Storm Sara officially became a named storm after forming in the Caribbean Thursday, the National Hurricane Center said, and while it’s currently forecasted to impact Central America, there’s a possibility it may head toward the already-battered Gulf coast of Florida.
