A death row inmate in Oklahoma who has been scheduled for execution nine separate times and been fed three “last meals” has won a new trial after the U.S.

A fractured Supreme Court on Tuesday ordered a new trial for Oklahoma death row inmate Richard Glossip, whose appeal drew national attention and support from the state’s conservative attorney general,

Christopher Sepulvado, 81, died Saturday at the Louisiana State Penitentiary in Angola, Louisiana, "from natural causes as a result of complications arising from his pre-existing medical conditions," according to the Louisiana Department of Public Safety and Corrections.

Both sides had told the justices that long-suppressed evidence had undermined the case against the inmate, Richard Glossip.
