The government shutdown is causing canceled flights across the U.S. Here are the routes that are most likely to be canceled, according to a flight attendant.
A 4% reduction in flights took effect Friday after Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy ordered the drop to ease stress on air traffic controllers.
Abdelghany agrees: “Even if the government reopens, recovery will still take time. Some passengers will have to be refunded and removed from the system because capacity simply cannot absorb everyone. The severity and duration of this reduction will determine how long recovery takes.”
By 1:40 p.m. Friday, there were more than 185 delayed or canceled flights at the Las Vegas’ Harry Reid airport. Southwest Airlines had the most delays and cancellations, with 24 flights canceled and 107 delayed as of mid-day Friday, according to FlightAware.
