Florian Wirtz knows what it is to be a wanted man. And now, six years after catching the eye of some of the game's biggest clubs, Wirtz is making the second high profile, contentious move of his career.

The 22-year-old registered 16 goals and 15 assists across 45 games in 2024-25, as Leverkusen finished second in the Bundesliga.

After several rejected bids, Liverpool have now agreed a deal to sign Wirtz for a whopping €136.3 million (£116.1 million, $157.8 million)—making Wirtz the most expensive sale in Bundesliga history and setting him up to break the Premier League transfer record if all add-ons are met.
