Ippei Mizuhara, the former interpreter convicted of stealing nearly $17 million from Shohei Ohtani, was sentenced to 57 in prison on Thursday, according to The Athletic's Sam Blum.

Ippei Mizuhara was sentenced to nearly five years in prison for stealing nearly $17 million from Dodgers superstar Shohei Ohtani to repay gambling debts.

Ippei Mizuhara, Dodger star Shohei Ohtani’s former long-time interpreter and close friend, was sentenced to 57 months, or nearly 5 years, in prison on bank fraud and false tax return charges, LAist has confirmed.
