The Red Sox dropped their weekend series to the Padres on Sunday after failing to capitalize on a bases loaded opportunity late.

Dylan Cease was impressive for six innings before San Diego’s All-Star-laden bullpen got into and out of trouble in the seventh and the Padres beat the Boston Red Sox 6-2 to take two of three.

Romy did techincally drive in the only two Red Sox runs of the game but otherwise, not much was happening there. Brayan Bello wasn’t outright terrible, but it was a pretty bang average game. It felt a lot like Monday against the Royals where he worked himself into difficult situations—but today, he couldn’t work himself out of them.
