The Supreme Court on Monday granted President Donald Trump’s emergency request to resume deporting migrants to countries other than their homeland, including places like South Sudan, with minimal notice.

For the past several months, the Trump administration has been trying to deport immigrants to countries they are not from – despite an April 2025 federal ruling that had blocked the White House from doing so.

A judge says a deportation fight originally bound for South Sudan won't be completing the trip right away even after a divided Supreme Court allowed the Trump administration to start swiftly deporting immigrants to countries they aren't from.
