Tropical Storm Jerry could become a hurricane in the Atlantic as Priscilla brings rain, surf, and flooding risks to Baja California in Mexico.
Moisture from Priscilla will start moving in from the south, pulling in higher humidity and even a few afternoon showers across eastern Arizona.
Western and central portions of Arizona could see flooding impacts from Priscilla beginning on Thursday, Oct. 9, according to a post on X from the National Weather Service (NWS) office in Flagstaff, Ariz. The impacts are expected to continue through Friday, Oct. 10, and “potentially” into the weekend.
Hurricane Priscilla neared Category 3 status on Tuesday in the Pacific as a new tropical storm strengthened in the Atlantic, the US National Hurricane Center said. Just off the west coast of Mexico, Priscilla was spinning with maximum sustained winds around 105 mph and moving northwest at 9 mph.
Hurricane Priscilla is lashing western Mexico with heavy rain, strong winds, and rough surf. The National Hurricane Center says a tropical storm watch has been issued for Baja California Sur from Cabo San Lucas to Cabo San Lazaro.
