A construction site collapsed, and an apartment building was destroyed after a large fire near UMass Amherst's campus on Friday night.

AMHERST — The UMass women’s basketball (2-0, 0-0 MAC) earned an 84-73 win over Siena University (0-2, 0-0 MAAC), Saturday afternoon in their home opener at the Mullins Center. The Minutewomen commanded the floor from the jump, gaining an early lead and maintaining a substantial lead throughout the contest.

Tarris Reed Jr. had 20 points and 12 rebounds and Silas Demary Jr. added 16 points and seven assists to lead No. 4 UConn to a 110-47 win over UMass Lowell on Friday night. Seven Huskies scored in double figures as UConn scored its most points in a game since a 2022 win against Long Island University.

AMHERST — Leonardo Bettiol scored 23 points as UMass men’s basketball beat Albany, 83-62, on Saturday at Mullins Center. Bettiol also contributed eight rebounds for the Minutemen (1-1). Daniel Hankins-Sanford added 14 points and 10 rebounds. K’Jei Parker had 12 points.

The Massachusetts women’s club hockey team closed out the weekend with a 3-1 win against Minnesota on Nov. 8. The Minutewomen’s (4-4-2) victory on Saturday marks their second consecutive win against the Golden Gophers (2-9-0).
