President Donald Trump said he would introduce an executive order to bring back steam power to the Navy. He made the comments on Monday during a speech to soldiers on the USS George Washington, a U.S. Navy Nimitz-class nuclear-powered aircraft carrier deployed to the Yokosuka Naval Base in Japan.
The deployment comes after Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth announced a 10th strike against a suspected drug smuggling vessel.
Should Textron Aviation Defense win the U.S. Navy’s Undergraduate Jet Training System program, the company would assemble the tandem-seat Beechcraft M-346N at its east campus in Wichita, the company announced Oct. 28.

10 Interesting airliners turned into military aircraft
Germany produced three outstanding modern airliners in the interwar period: the Junkers Ju 52, Junkers Ju 86 and Focke-Wulf Fw 200. The Ju 52 was boxy, corrugated and lacked elegance. The Ju 86 (at least in airliner, and not militarily variants) was rather lovely, but most sublime aesthetically, was likely the Fw 200.
The deployment and the quickening pace of U.S. strikes, including one Friday, raised new speculation about how far the Trump administration may go in operations it says are targeted at drug trafficking.
