On Sunday, in India's big win against England in the fifth T20I, Sharma finally did what the former India all-rounder wanted. Sharma stayed at the crease for 54 balls and went to record the highest individual score by an Indian in T20Is.

It has not yet been a full year since the Punjab batter arrived at the international stage on the back of high promise in domestic cricket, including an immensely successful IPL with Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2024.

To add to that, his 135 is the highest individual score by an Indian in a T20I, surpassing Shubman Gill's 126 not out against New Zealand in 2023. Speaking at the post-match presentation, Abhishek Sharma recalled Yuvraj Singh's wish of him batting in the last five overs.
