HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. formally accepted recommendations that would require all vaccine manufacturers to discontinue using the preservative thimerosal in flu vaccines.

The US Department of Health and Human Services has adopted a recommendation to remove a preservative called thimerosal from all influenza vaccines distributed in the United States.

Kennedy Jr. endorsed the CDC's Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) recommendation that the U.S. population only receive influenza vaccines without the mercury-based preservative thimerosal.
