Georgia Winter Storm Warning: Snow totals, timing, and rare -15° wind chill forecast
A Winter Storm Watch now covers the entire Atlanta metro area, moving in from the east.
Another round of winter weather is expected to move into north Georgia this weekend, bringing snow, bitter cold, and hazardous travel conditions to much of the region, including the Atlanta metro area.
For the second weekend in a row, Severe Weather Team 2 is tracking a winter weather threat. A coastal storm this weekend is likely to spread snow across parts of the south and mid-Atlantic. As of Wednesday,
The winter storm warning areas have the potential to see up to 2-4 inches of snow. The winter weather advisory areas have the potential to see up to 1-2 inches of snow.
Snow totals will be highest in northeast Georgia, where 6"+ is possible in higher elevations. For Atlanta and the inner metro, 1 to 3 inches of snow is possible.
Snow flurries are starting in areas of Central Georgia. Send in your photos and videos to [email protected] or text us at 478-752-1309
The snow moves out by this evening, but dangerously cold conditions will remain for all of us. It will be extremely cold - low to mid 20s with 30 mph or more wind gusts - and that will continue tonight as we fall down into the teens. Heavy snow continues to fall with strong wind gusts in Hall County, Channel 2’s Steve Gehlbach reports.
Possible snow comes to the area less than a week after a winter weather event blanketed northern parts of the CSRA over the weekend.
