Percival Everett’s “James,” a posthumous memoir by Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny and Adam Higginbotham’s acclaimed work about the Challenger disaster are among the nominees for National Book Critics Circle prizes.
On Sunday, the American Library Association announced that Everett's “James” was this year's winner of the Carnegie Medal for Excellence in Fiction, which includes a $5,000 cash award. Kevin Fedarko's “A Walk in the Park: The True Story of a Spectacular Misadventure in the Grand Canyon” was chosen for nonfiction.
