The top defensive honors for the 2025 MLB season were given out on Friday night. San Diego Padres right fielder Fernando Tatis Jr. and Kansas City Royals shortstop Bobby Witt Jr. were the recipients of the Platinum Glove Awards, which are presented to the top defensive player in each league during regular-season action.

Fans were left furious over Fernando Tatis Jr. being named the NL Platinum Glove Award by MLB after fans' voting.

The 30-foot gold glove statue was installed around 9 a.m., utilizing one of the largest cranes in the world. The statue will serve as a centerpiece for the Rawlings Experience, which opened last year at Westport Plaza.

A plan is in place to put the Rawlings Gold Glove on top of Westport Plaza. The 35,000-pound baseball glove was put on top of the Maryland Heights building on Wednesday. The glove was settled onto a heavy-duty steel structure at the top of the Gold Tower.

Royals star Bobby Witt Jr. won his second consecutive Gold Glove at the shortstop position. This season, Witt ranked second among AL shortstops in assists (382) and fielding percentage (.983).

For the first time, the Texas Rangers have been awarded the Rawlings Gold Glove Team Award. The Gold Glove Award has been awarded to the best defensive player at each position since 1957. In 2020, the award was expanded to recognize the best team defense.
