Florida lawmakers reject special session on immigration called by DeSantis
TALLAHASSEE — The Florida House and Senate openly rebuked Gov. Ron DeSantis’ call for a special session on immigration Monday by defiantly rejecting his slate of bills, then adjourning and immediately regrouping to consider alternative legislation approved by their leaders.
"FHP is equipped and hard at work to enforce illegal immigration laws in Florida," the agency said in a social media post.
After recent ICE raids in Tallahassee, community members are mobilizing to advocate for immigrant safety and rights.
