ESPN's Stephen A. Smith says because of Giannis Antetokounmpo's dominance the Bucks superstar has underachieved with just one championship.
What are NBA insiders saying about the biggest offseason storylines? Tim Bontemps and Brian Windhorst canvass the league.
Giannis Antetokounmpo reportedly said he wants to return to the Milwaukee Bucks next season amid rumors he may consider seeking a trade in order to compete for a second championship.
But now, no matter how one counts, it belongs to the Thunder. They came into Game 4 of the NBA Finals against the Indiana Pacers needing 68 points for the record and got it on a free throw by NBA MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander with 6:09 left in the third quarter on Friday night.
“There are two great teams that got there,” Antetokounmpo said, referring to the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Indiana Pacers reaching the 2025 Finals presented by YouTube TV, “Indiana, with my friend Pascal Siakam, is reaping the rewards, and OKC simply has the MVP [Shai Gilgeous-Alexander]. I’m rooting for good basketball.”
Milwaukee got off to a rough start in '24/25, going 2-8 in its first 10 games. But the Bucks steadied the ship to an extent over the course of the season, and finished with a nearly identical record as the season prior (48-34 vs. 49-33), setting up a first-round rematch with Indiana.
