The Humane Society says there are no federal regulations in regard to the care of animals slaughtered and farmed for fur. The Grand River Fur Exchange was licensed by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, the Humane Society says, but the state also does not have laws or standards for fur farms.

After the Humane Society of the United States rescued them from a farm in Ashtabula County, hundreds of animals are living in better conditions now.
