Netflix's loss may well be Transformers fans' gain, however. Bay is currently in discussions with Paramount about returning to the giant robot franchise that he launched back in July 2007. In total Bay directed five movies in that series over 10 years, ending with Transformers: The Last Knight in 2017.

It looks like Michael Bay and Will Smith will have to wait for another opportunity for a Bad Boys reunion. Entertainment Weekly has learned that Bay exited his role as director of Netflix's upcoming action movie Fast and Loose over creative differences with Smith.

Michael Bay is no longer attached to Fast & Loose, which will see Will Smith playing a man who wakes up in Tijuana with no memories and eventually discovers he’s been living two lives: one as a crime kingpin and the other as an undercover CIA operative.

The Late Show with Stephen Colbert is ending in May but the host is already courting new employers. Colbert, who is off for a few weeks on a summer hiatus, joked that he's waiting to hear from Netflix and Amazon after CBS unceremoniously canceled the iconic late-night franchise.
