A coronal mass ejection hurtling from the sun toward Earth could trigger a geomagnetic storm, making the northern lights visible in up to 18 states.

Many may remember the powerful solar storm that brought northern lights to the region in May of 2024. The northern lights were also visible later that year, on October 10.
