The Tennessee Vols appear to be in the mix for transfer wide receiver that just recently competed in the College Football Playoff. Penn State Nittany Lions wide receiver Omari Evans entered the NCAA transfer portal on Wednesday.

Penn State transfer wide receiver Omari Evans will visit Tennessee. Evans will also visit Washington, Texas Tech and Syracuse, according to On3. Dates have not been determined for his visits. Evans entered the NCAA transfer portal on Jan. 14. He committed to the Nittany Lions on Oct. 2, 2021.

Junior wide receiver Omari Evans announced that he was entering the transfer portal. The news was broken by On3. A 6-foot, 188-pounder from Killeen, Tx., Evans caught 21 passes for 415 yards and five touchdowns for the Nittany Lions in 2024-25. He will have one year of eligibility remaining.

Penn State football's overhaul of its wide receivers room for 2025 is in full swing. The Nittany Lions' top two receivers reportedly will enter the NCAA Transfer Portal, thus making running back Nicholas Singleton the team's returning leader in receptions for next season.

Penn State landed two wide receivers in the transfer portal last month: Kyron Hudson from USC and Devonte Ross from Troy. The Lions also have three wide receivers in their current recruiting class: Matthew Outten of Portsmouth, Va.; Lyrick Samuel of New York; and Koby Howard of Davie, Fla.

The dominoes are set to fall quickly in Penn State’s wide receiver room after another disappointing season. The Nittany Lions have added two transfers for 2025 in USC’s Kyron Hudson and Troy’s Omari Evans. Now, one starter from 2024 is on his way out.

Evans’ emergence in the last five games has come at the same time that running backs Kaytron Allen and Nick Singleton are chewing up defenses. If a defense chooses to put a safety near the line of scrimmage to slow Allen and Singleton, it leaves room for Evans and other wideouts.

Evans spent his first three collegiate seasons with the Nittany Lions and had 21 catches for 415 receiving yards and five touchdowns in 2024.

Omari Evans announced on social media his intent to enter the NCAA transfer portal, suggesting he is leaving Penn State behind in hopes of getting a little more out of his remaining eligibility. The Texas native had two catches in three College Football Playoff games for the Nittany Lions.
