July 31 (Reuters) - U.S. President Donald Trump intensified his trade war with Canada a day ahead of his August 1 deadline for a tariff agreement, saying it would be "very hard" to make a deal with Canada after it gave its support to Palestinian statehood.

After Canada failed to strike a trade deal with Washington, the president raised tariffs on some Canadian exports this week.

A record number of Senate Democrats, more than half the caucus, voted in favor of two resolutions to block U.S. military sales to Israel on Wednesday night, The Hill reports. Meanwhile, Canada plans to recognize a Palestinian state in September.
