Republican Curtis Sliwa appears to have played spoiler in New York City’s mayoral race. Sliwa received 7.4% of the vote with 80% of the vote total reporting, according to the Associated Press. That’s roughly the margin of victory Zohran Mamdani is holding over Andrew Cuomo.

Despite mounting pressure from his party to quit, the GOP nominee told Newsweek he’s determined to stay in the NYC mayoral race to the bitter end.
Mr. Sliwa, an anti-crime activist who is the product of a bygone city, said he hoped the incoming mayor succeeded, but not at the cost of socialism and a weakened police force.
