A senior member of the athletics staff at a community college in Oakland has been shot on campus. Police are investigating Thursday's shooting at Laney College.

Legendary Oakland football coach John Beam, who was featured in the Netflix series "Last Chance U", has died after being shot at Laney College, the Oakland Police Department said Friday, and a suspect has been arrested.

Attempted murder charges have been filed against two boys, ages 15 and 16, in the shooting of a classmate on Wednesday.

A shooting at Oakland's Skyline High School injured a juvenile on Wednesday, authorities said. Oakland police said the shooting involved three juveniles and happened just before the end of the school day. Two juveniles were quickly located thanks to the help of staff and students at the school, police said.
