We train with blunt plastic knives for safety, control, and realistic sparring. Empty-hand shapes translate directly: • Tan sau becomes an upward slicing deflection • Bong sau becomes a rolling blade shield • Fook sau becomes a pressing, cutting control The intention stays the same — only the consequence changes. You always want to ensure you’re at an angle and have created a triangular shape so you’re able to defect effortlessly and effectively. By holding your knives too upright, you’re not only compromising and weakening structure, but your also putting yourself in a vulnerable position for oncoming force or attacks.
