The Grant 1714 Tartan. Tartan woven by Lochcarron of Scotland A wee bit about the tartan: “ This historic tartan is derived from Richard Waitt’s portraits of the Laird of Grant’s Piper and Champion in 1714, both of which can be seen in the National Portrait Gallery in Edinburgh. The paintings have been studied by Peter MacDonald Tartan Historian and honorary Head of Research at The Scottish Tartan’s Authority, who has re-created the tartan based on the sett, design and colours in the paintings.
