Alma Thomas was an expressionist artist, best known for her colorful abstractionist works of art. She was the first ever graduate from the newly-founded art school at Howard University in 1924, and was a prominent member of the Washington Color School, based out of Washington D.C. in the mid-20th century. #BlackArtistsMatter Alma Thomas dedicated her creative spirit to studying color theory, and drew much of her inspiration from nature. She was also greatly inspired by the moon landing of 1969!
