These were not kids’ cartoons in the way we think of them today. This short, Toyland Broadcast, shows how 1930s MGM cartoons relied on stereotypes. The exaggerated white lips trace back to minstrel blackface traditions, where performers painted faces black and outlined lips to mock Black people. #fyp
